Interactive Grants Report

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation

For more than 50 years, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation has worked with partners around the world to improve the lives of children, families, and communities—and to restore and protect the planet. Each year, the Foundation studies and reflects on its grantmaking data to better understand and improve its effectiveness. After sharing some of this information publicly for the first time in 2012, the Foundation sought a more engaging approach to annual reporting.

Since 2013, Williams Group has concepted, designed and produced annual “Year in Review” microsites to capture and present grantmaking data from the previous year. These online reports provide snapshots of key data points and offer opportunity for increased interactivity and user engagement through pop-ups, rollovers and animations.

Highly visual and interactive, the microsites capture attention—and invite engagement—among audiences most interested in and impacted by the Foundation’s important work. The sites also facilitate knowledge sharing; each includes dissemination copy and thumbnails that visitors may use to promote key ideas and start conversations within their own networks.
